This week I finished the basic hull of a Pelican sailboat. I sheathed the hull in fiberglass and epoxy, ensuring a watertight and long lasting boat. I also primed the hull in an epoxy primer because it cures reliably over an epoxy coating. I flipped the hull over and it’s ready to start working on the interior structure. The picture is of the hull standing upright while I disassemble the setup jig.
I also started rebuilding a centerboard trunk from a local catboat that I have in the shop. I’m replacing the headledges (the vertical posts), and the bedlogs (horizontal timbers that join to the keel). In this picture, I have the new headledges dry fit and extra long to be trimmed later.
